Summary
Cheri Friedrich, DNP, APRN, CPNP-PC, IBCLC, is a Clinical Professor in the School of Nursing, and is the specialty coordinator of the pediatric nurse practitioner and pediatric clinical nurse specialist Doctor of Nursing Practice program at the School of Nursing. She is the Co-Director of Interprofessional Education through the Office of Academic Clinical Affairs. She first began teaching at the University of Minnesota in 1992 and has taught across three programs at the school: the Bachelor of Science (BSN) program, the Masters of Nursing (MN) program, and the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program. Dr. Friedrich draws on her years of experience as a primary care PNP and interprofessional team member to inform her teaching, as she consistently integrates teaching of graduate students into her clinical practice. Dr. Friedrich maintains an active clinical practice in a non-profit clinic that serves un- and under-insured children and their families in Anoka County. Dr. Friedrich also has a broad focus on interprofessional education which is evident in all three missions of the School of Nursing: teaching, service and scholarship. She has been instrumental in representing and co-leading efforts in developing innovative interprofessional teaching and learning strategies through her work on the University of Minnesota's Academic Health Center’s 1Health committee. This small strategic committee is charged with the development and implementation of numerous interprofessional educational opportunities. Through this committee Dr. Friedrich has been the lead faculty developer on two interprofessional escape rooms for both early and advanced learners. These interprofessional health care escape rooms are available on-line, free of charge, at: https://z.umn.edu/EscapeRoom
