Face Masks

The CDC recommends wearing a mask to protect yourself and others. Masking is a critical public health tool and it is important to remember that any mask is better than no mask.

Wear the most protective mask you can that fits well and that you will wear consistently.

Wearing a well-fitted mask along with vaccination, self-testing, and physical distancing, helps protect you and others by reducing the chance of spreading COVID-19.

Masking at the University of Minnesota

Face masks are not required in any University space unless officially designated by the University as a “masks required” space, such as health sciences facilities in which faculty, staff, students and volunteers may have potential interactions with patients and research participants.

The University expects all community members to respect those who choose to wear a mask, as well as those who choose not to wear one.
