Author
VP Jakub Tolar, MD, PhD

Across the University of Minnesota, we embrace a holistic vision of health—what we call "total health." This concept transcends traditional boundaries, recognizing the profound connections between animal health, human health, agricultural health, environmental health and economic health. As a comprehensive university, we are uniquely positioned to address these intricate interdependencies through an integrated, interdisciplinary approach that leverages the breadth and depth of our academic and clinical expertise.

In today’s world, where issues like climate change and emerging infectious diseases are increasingly interconnected, our work is more critical than ever. We continue to innovate and lead, fostering collaborations across disciplines to create solutions that improve health outcomes for all. Our graduates leave equipped not just with technical knowledge, but with a deep understanding of the broader contexts in which health exists—ensuring they are leaders in promoting total health in Minnesota and beyond.
