Mini Medical School Background

Evolving with the Pandemic at Mini Medical School

Author
VP Jakub Tolar, MD, PhD

Mini Medical School isn’t actually mini, and it isn’t medical school. It’s a 23-year-old community outreach and education program that features some of our most fascinating faculty in the health sciences sharing their expertise on timely health topics. Since it went virtual in 2020, attendance has skyrocketed.

Designed to appeal to staff, students, faculty, and the community, the series is open to everyone and free!

A recent poll of past attendees showed that the overwhelming majority of them want updates on COVID-19, information on geriatrics and aging, and more knowledge of community health.

We invite you to join our upcoming Mini Medical School: Evolving with the Pandemic (March 30, April 6 & 13), which will explore the latest on COVID-19, variants, and boosters; the impact of the pandemic on rural communities and geriatric populations; and resilience and reimagination in a time of burnout. Attend all three live sessions and receive a digital certificate of completion.

We remain committed to sharing our knowledge with the community. Recordings of previous sessions can be found here. We look forward to having you at our spring series!

Students: What Do You Enjoy Most About Interprofessional Activities?

“Through interprofessional activities, I have the opportunity to learn about a variety of perspectives and ideas. I love being on interprofessional teams with individuals of different values, experiences, and expertise. Interprofessional activities have been a huge part of my education at the University. Through my experiences in Phillips Neighborhood Clinic leadership and the IPE Scholars program, I have learned how my own strengths complement the strengths of others on an interprofessional team.” - Emily Fjeldstad, doctor of physical therapy student
