Elevate Momentum

The energy in an academic health center is palpable. This vitality manifests in the transformative breakthroughs achieved when researchers synthesize disparate data on intricate projects, the exacting precision with which learners demonstrate advanced clinical competencies, and the profound empathy exhibited by care teams dedicated to enhancing the well-being of our patients, families, and communities. This energy is what keeps us moving forward.

At our institution, our momentum is rooted in our land-grant mission. We exist to serve the public good, with a deep commitment to improving health for our patients, families, and communities. Because we care so deeply about this calling, we don't need to be pushed. The vision of a healthier future naturally pulls us forward.

Bringing Vision and Strategy Together

To turn that natural drive into real, lasting progress, we must bring vision and strategy together.

Vision is our destination—the ultimate goal of what we want to achieve for the people we serve. Strategy is our map, outlining the practical steps, timelines, and resources we need to get there.

Without a strategy, vision remains a wish. Without vision, strategy becomes a checklist. Real progress happens when we connect the two. When our daily work in classrooms, clinics, and laboratories aligns with our broader purpose, every team member can see exactly how their efforts contribute to our shared goals.

How Our Strategic Plan Advances the Mission

This alignment is why our strategic plan is so vital. It is not a document meant to sit on a shelf; it is an active tool that advances our mission to serve the public.

Instead of trying to be everything to everyone, our strategy helps us focus our limited time and resources on the areas of greatest need. It establishes clear benchmarks so we can hold ourselves accountable and ensure we are truly delivering on our promises to our communities. Ultimately, a clear strategic framework provides the stability our researchers, educators, and clinicians need to take the calculated, creative risks that lead to medical breakthroughs.

Our Shared Commitment as a Sustaining Force

This momentum is not a solo endeavor. True progress in health and healthcare is always collective. No single researcher cures a disease, and no single clinician transforms a health system. We move forward because we move together.

The work we do is demanding, and the challenges facing healthcare are complex. But our shared commitment to our patients, families, and communities is our most powerful sustaining force. When the path gets steep, we do not rely on external pressure. Instead, we draw strength from our responsibility to our state and our shared belief in the power of healing.

By stepping forward together—guided by a clear strategy and pulled by our vision—we will continue to build a healthier future for all.
