M-Health Fairview Hospitals

"The dietitians at M-Health are recognized and valued contributors to both patient care and professional education. They train dietetic interns in nutrition-focused physical examinations, including assessment for malnutrition and nutrient deficiencies, through role modehttps://www.mhealthfairview.org/department/hospital-servicesling during interdisciplinary rounds and active advocacy for nutrition-focused interventions. They also fulfill a critical coordinating role by referring patients to appropriate team members — including speech-language pathologists for swallow screenings, pharmacists for TPN order collaboration, and case managers for home care planning."

Notably, in November 2025, Family Healthcare hosted a Veterans Day community clinic focused on dental extractions for unhoused individuals and extended an invitation for students to participate, providing a valuable opportunity for community-engaged learning."

During the 2025–26 academic year, 90 Walgreens pharmacists precepted 150 PharmD students across introductory and advanced community rotations, representing the largest cohort of community preceptors in the program. Their reach extended to one-third of the Class of 2029 and one-fourth of the Class of 2028, reflecting an extraordinary level of commitment and institutional capacity. A defining strength of this partnership lies in its flexibility — effectively coordinating 90 preceptors and 150 students demands exceptional organizational skill and consistent responsiveness to the evolving needs of the program."

The site offers highly sought clinical electives alongside non-patient care electives — including pharmacy management and a leadership rotation within the Leadership Emphasis Area — broadening the scope of experiential learning available to students. UMMC demonstrates exceptional flexibility in scheduling and actively invites students to provide input regarding their areas of interest. The department has also worked closely with students facing academic challenges, with preceptors adapting individualized learning plans and making workflow adjustments to foster student growth and support academic success.

By addressing and dispelling common misconceptions, HVC models how high-standard veterinary care can be delivered through culturally specific accommodations. Beyond its educational offerings, HVC serves as a professional exemplar within the field. As one of the few clinics in Minnesota equipped with a haul-in facility for large animals, HVC has made a meaningful institutional investment in providing a controlled, safe environment for the care of cattle and horses — establishing a model for veterinary students and practitioners alike who seek to enhance their own facilities and standards of care."
