Two University of Minnesota faculty were recently inducted into the National Academies of Practice (NAP). The prestigious honor acknowledges their outstanding achievements and recognizes them as leaders in their professions.
Donna Eull, PhD, RN, CHPPN, clinical associate professor, School of Nursing, and Sabine Schmid, PhD, LP, associate professor, Medical School, were part of the Class of 2026 honorees welcomed into the NAP at an awards and induction ceremony in Indianapolis, Ind., on March 14.
“Having worked in amazing interprofessional teams throughout my 40 years as a pediatric nurse, I was humbled and honored to be inducted into the National Academies of Practice as a Distinguished Nurse Fellow," says Eull. "Collaborative, interprofessional work is the only way we will achieve optimal health and outcomes for our patients, families and communities. We need to continue to train our students to work together respectfully, thoughtfully and collaboratively to prepare them for future practice.”
“Being inducted into the National Academies of Practice is a deeply meaningful honor that affirms my commitment to advancing interprofessional education, collaborative clinical care, and team-based training - work that has been central to my career and deeply personal to me," says Schmid. "It feels like a shared achievement with the many colleagues and learners I’ve had the privilege to work alongside and learn from. I am truly grateful and inspired to continue fostering innovation and partnerships to improve patient care and outcomes."
Inductees into the National Academies of Practice are elected by their peers from multiple different health professions to join the only interprofessional group of health care practitioners and scholars dedicated to supporting affordable, accessible, coordinated quality health care for all.

Eull and Schmid into the National Academies of Practice reflects both their individual excellence and our collective strength in interprofessional collaboration at the University of Minnesota. Their contributions are shaping how we prepare the next generation of health professionals to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care," says Brian Sick, MD, MHA, FACP, FNAP, 2021 inductee and past-chair of the NAP Physician Academy.
A non-profit organization, NAP was founded in 1981 to advise governmental bodies on our health care system.
