Carolyn Porta Appointed Associate Vice President for Clinical Affairs

Carolyn Porta, PhD, has been appointed Associate Vice President in the Office of Academic Clinical Affairs. She will oversee several clinical affairs centers and provide leadership on interprofessional education and practice.

"This new role is key to ensuring continued connection of the University's health sciences schools, centers, and faculty with the Provost’s Office and the Office of the Vice President for Research," said Jakub Tolar, MD, PhD, Vice President for Clinical Affairs. "Dr. Porta has a solid portfolio of experience in outreach, collaboration, clinical service, and interprofessional education. Her background and experience provide a solid match for the leadership she will provide."

Porta is also a professor in the School of Nursing’s population health and systems cooperative as well as an adjunct professor in the School of Public Health’s epidemiology and community health division. Her research interests have focused on improving health and wellbeing of vulnerable young people and their families. She also directs the global health programs in the School of Nursing.

"I am confident that she will help us achieve our collective goals to advance health sciences and the University's impact on health and wellness broadly," said Tolar.
